Membership Options

CSTC offers several membership classifications to accommodate professionals at different stages of their careers.

Active Membership

For individuals actively engaged in tax preparation, tax consultation, or accounting who meet CSTC membership qualifications.

Qualifications may include individuals recognized:

  • Under Treasury Circular 230;
  • By a state regulatory authority;
  • By the California Tax Education Council (CTEC);
  • By the Accreditation Council for Accounting & Taxation;
  • Through an associate or bachelor's degree with a minimum of 24 semester hours in accounting; or
  • Through a minimum of five years of bookkeeping experience in public practice.

Annual Membership: $195
One-time $25 processing fee for new members.

Student Membership

For individuals enrolled in a tax or accounting class or program who are not actively engaged in the profession of tax preparation or accounting.

Student members receive membership privileges and benefits but do not have voting rights or eligibility to hold office.

Annual Membership: $55

Associate Membership

For individuals who are not eligible for another CSTC membership classification but want to expand their knowledge of tax and accounting matters.

Associate members receive membership privileges and benefits but do not have voting rights or eligibility to hold office.

Annual Membership: $195
One-time $25 processing fee for new members.

Inactive Membership

For individuals who are no longer active in the field of tax preparation or accounting but would like to remain connected to CSTC and the profession.

Inactive members receive membership privileges and member pricing but do not have voting rights or eligibility to hold office.
