This session will address the following aspects of the new law: 1. Changes affecting individuals & business entities 2. What the changes mean for your clients 3. Mechanics of the Qualified Business Income Deduction The TCJA increases the nonconformity between federal and California tax law, and these differences will also be explored during this 2 CE hour presentation.

Presenter: Rodney J. Couts, EA

Rodney J. Couts, EA was admitted to practice before the Internal Revenue Service as an Enrolled Agent in 2004. He founded Seaside Resources in 2005, a Carlsbad based tax preparation firm specializing in small businesses, real estate and individual taxation. Rod is a graduate of Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, majoring in accounting. As a leasing specialist, Rod has contributed articles to Forbes and numerous other publications, appeared on television and radio, and was recognized by former Federal Reserve Board Chairman Alan Greenspan as a member of the Federal Reserve Board’s Leasing Education Task Force.
