Topic: 

Part One: California Tax Update
The course will review the latest information on preparing California tax returns. This will include various new laws taking effect in 2022 and 2023, the latest on the Pass Thru Entity Tax and examples of when or when not to utilize PTET, plus various information from FTB, EDD, Secretary of State, and Charitable Trusts.

Part Two: Ethics – Best Practices in the Midst of Chaos
The new normal seems to be a state of constant chaos and uncertainty. When the pressure is on ethical procedures are all the more important and easier to overlook. Conducting business in a virtual environment brings a whole new set of challenges to our firms. The course will not only visit the standards for practitioners but also look at various situations drawn from real life. Thinking through a course of action before coming under fire will protect you and your clients. Part of this course will be interactive.

Michele Patterson and Claudia Stanley, CPA

Michele Patterson
, an Enrolled Agent, prepares individual and business entity returns, oversees bookkeeping, payroll services, and California DRE inspections and reviews. She is a CSUF alumni. She frequently assists Claudia in presenting continuing education classes for various tax topics.

Claudia Stanley
, CPA is a graduate of California State University, Fresno, and serves as treasurer of the California Society of Tax Consultants, as education chair of the Central California Chapter of Enrolled Agents, and as treasurer of Fresno’s local chapter of American Business Women’s Association. Claudia is a long-time member of CSTC. In 2016 she was named member of the year of the Central Valley Chapter of CSTC and in 2001 she was named one of the Top Ten Women of the Year in the nation by the American Business Women’s Association. She frequently speaks on various tax topics.
