Description:

"The disposition of property passing at death and its consequences, depends on the form of ownership of each asset. The creation of a Living Trust is a way to identify assets and how to distribute or administer these assets. The basics of a Living Trust and legal documentation needed will be explored including the step up in basis and property tax issues. Form 1041 "Estate and Trust Income Tax Return will also be highlighted as well as supporting forms such as Form 56 and Form 4810. The conclusion will be a better understanding of the filing requirements for a Living Trust and the interactions of Tax Preparers, Legal Counsel, Executors/Trustees and Beneficiaries.

Sophia Kim Sakamoto, Esq. has over 15 years of extensive experiences in the areas of estate planning, probate and trust administration. She is a partner at Skamoto & Ruelas APC. Experiences are also in the areas of business, contracts and real estate law. Born and raised in Southern California, she has her undergraduate degree from UC, San Diego and her law degree from University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law with a major in Tax Concentration which she received in 2008.
