Learn and discuss: 1) what types of property qualify? 2) what types of people could disqualify your exchange, and what if I want to sell to a related party? 3) what are the deadlines and timelines to comply with this code section? 4) what is a qualified intermediary? 5) what if my existing property has a mortgage? 6) can I trade my property for a different kind of investment? 7) what is a tenant-in-common Delaware statutory trust, and could it be beneficial for your 1031 exchanges? 8) is there a limit to how many people can be involved in a tenant-in-common Delaware statutory trust?

George W. Teats Jr., CPA George W Teats Jr is a CPA and has been working as an accountant since 1979. He has also been an instructor for the Becker CPA review course. He currently has a practice in Santa Ana, a local firm with a staff of four people, serving the needs of individuals, family-owned businesses, non-profit organizations, and estates and trusts.George is currently married, with two adult sons from a previous marriage, and five step children from his current marriage. He enjoys the adventure of trying exotic and independent (non-chain) restaurants of all different ethnic types.
