Inland Empire Chapter In-Person Meeting

Date/Time:

5:30 PM to 9:00 PM

Location:

DoubleTree Hotel Claremont

Topic:

The “Gift Tax” is often misunderstood by practitioners and clients. We ask the question about gifts over $15,000, but do you or your client understand why we ask the question, what the tax reporting requirements are, and who is responsible for the tax consequences should there be any? This course will identify different types of gifts; explain how gifts are taxed; and what the reporting requirements are for gifts. We will review the reporting requirements for gifts to non-citizen spouses along with other international issues in regard to gifts. At the end of the course you will see how the 709 Tax Return directly relates to the 706 Tax Return and how this can affect the outcome of the 706 Tax Return. Examples will be included.
