Description:

This presentation will commence with a summary of federal audit and collection procedures and conclude with discussing how to resolve a tax liability post-assessment. This will include discussing Audit Reconsiderations, Doubt as to Liability Offers in Compromise, Collection Due Process Hearings, Refund Claims, and other methods to challenge a liability post-assessment. While the focus of the presentation will relate to IRS liabilities, the presenter will also discuss challenging FTB, CDTFA & EDD liabilities post-assessment.

Jonathan T. Amitrano, Attorney, LL.M Tax, Certified Taxation Law Specialist
Jonathan T. Amitrano is a Partner at the Law Offices of A. Lavar Taylor, LLP, where he practices as a federal and state tax controversy attorney. Jonathan is a Certified Specialist in taxation law by the California Board of Legal Specialization, and he has significant experience representing both individuals and businesses before various taxing agencies. Outside of the civil arena, Jonathan has handled a variety of criminal tax matters, at both the federal and state level. In addition to his practice, Jonathan is a Professor at the Dale E. Fowler Chapman School of Law, where he teaches Federal Tax Research and Writing.
