Topic:

Part One: Rental Properties
In this class, we will be covering all things related to rental properties and how they relate into the tax return such as proper reporting of rental income, rental expenses, limits on rental losses, vacation home rentals and AirBnB's, rules for reporting rental property sales, and much more. The class will also include an interactive Q&A for our attendees.

Part Two: Daycare & Dependency Credits
For home-based family childcare (daycare) providers, taking care of the children is only half of the job. The other half is taking care of the business - we will explore the bookkeeping and income tax requirements for a profitable business. Discover what allowable deductions to claim for the lowest possible federal taxes. There have been changes in depreciation rules, adjustments to food and mileage rates, and how to calculate the Time-Space percentage.

Presenters:

Part One: Eugene Ostermiller, EA, NTPI
Eugene started doing taxes 23 years ago at H and R Block. After 8 years at Block, he formed Tax Matters Inc. in San Francisco with 2 partners, a business that they sold in 2014.He then moved to Sonora CA and opened ERO Tax in 2015. He passed the EA exam in 2001 and has been a speaker for over 15 years.

Part Two: Sandra Stolich
In the fall of 1992, I saw an H & R Block ad offering a tax school at the local office. During this brief 10-week course I was intrigued by this profession. Soon after, I purchased a client list from an office that was closing. At that time, all 20-30 returns were done by hand. On New Year’s Eve 1997, I submitted a resume to the H & R Block local office and was hired. This began an 8-year journey into computer generated tax returns and meeting fascinating clients along the way. In May of 2004, I open my private tax and bookkeeping practice and thoroughly enjoyed the world of self-employment. I passed the S.E.E. in 2005 and became an enrolled agent. Feeling the need to be a part of a larger family, in 2007, I discovered the Liberty Tax franchise system. In 2008, I became one of Liberty’s online basic California tax course and federal Rapid course trainers. Then in 2015, while still operating my two offices, I was hired as Corporate Tax School Coordinator for Liberty, handling all state tax education licensing and online instruction.
