Topic: Ethics

Ethics are the standards by which actions are judged. For tax practices, ethics are not only judged by a person's clients but they are determined, monitored and enforced by a taxation agency. The department of the treasury sets forth in TD Circular 230 the standards for ethics for tax professionals. Students will learn about the department of treasury's standards of honesty, competence, integrity, confidentiality, responsibility, legality and transparency with which they should run their tax preparation services.
