se will cover the new Form 1099-NEC (Non-employee Compensation) which will
replace payments historically reported on Form 1099-MISC Box 7. We will als
o review changes to Form 1099-MISC. Some general rules for 1099-NEC, 1099-M
ISC, 1099-INT, etc., and where are our clients at risk for non-compliance.
Penalties related to 1099s. Who qualifies for an extension to file 1099’s?
Issuing 1099’s for business rent, what if the landlord uses a property mana
ger? Filing 1099’s for QBI rentals. Plus some AB5 and EDD payroll audits re
lated to 1099s.

peaker: Rodney J. Couts, EA (Rod) first began preparing taxes in 1
987 and in March 2005 he was admitted to practice before the Internal Reven
ue Service as an Enrolled Agent after passing the highly rigorous enrolled
agent exam in September 2004. Enrolled Agents are among a limited group of
professionals that are allowed to represent taxpayers before the IRS on a n
ationwide basis. Enrolled agents are recognized by the IRS as America's tax
experts. Rod is also a nationally known automobile leasing expert, and was
recognized by Federal Reserve Board chairman Alan Greenspan for his contri
butions to the Board's Leasing Education Program team. The team developed t
he Board's web site content and print materials for educating consumers abo
ut automobile leasing.
