A discus
sion and audience participation of the additional due diligence requirement
s after Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. The level of analysis required to evaluate e
ligibility for some tax deductions after TCJA and the historical documentat
ion now required to substantiate that analysis presents quite a burden for
tax preparers. Some of the areas of concern will be:
● Meals and Entert
ainment change eliminating the entertainment component. How do you support
your analysis?
● Mortgage Interest Limitation. What records do you kee
p to inform your clients as to why they may have interest limit? How do you
support applicable purchase acquisition or remodel debt?
● Qualified
Business Income Deduction (QBI) for rental real estate. What documentation
should you have to support the eligibility for QBI
