Come and join us for an evening of two topics from the Internal Revenue Service. We will have an IRS representative walk you through the steps of how to report a scam. Steps of how to protect yourself from tax scams. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. You will also be taken through the steps of how to report a suspected tax fraud activity. The Internal Revenue Service has expanded the Identity Protection PIN Opt-In program to all taxpayers who can verify their identities. Senior Stakeholder Liaison, Christella Sanchez will guide us on the new procedures and what to do if your client is a victim of tax identity theft.-Monitoring your EFIN "Electronic Filing Identification Number"-Monitoring your PTIN "Preparers Tax Identification Number"-Monitoring your CAF "Centralized Authorization File Number"-Tax scams-Data Breaches

John G Miller EA is President and CEO of the firm, Accounting for TAX, located in SanMateo, CA, and has been in the tax business for over 22 years. He holds a BS in accounting from Colorado State University and previously served 12 years as a faculty instructor for the San Mateo Community College District. During those years he was an instructor for courses in accounting, taxation, real estate, retirement, and investing and responsible for conducting a VITA program. He is a member of the National Association of Tax Professionals, the National Society of Accountants, and currently serves on theBoard of Directors of the California Society of Tax Consultants, San Francisco Chapter.

Christella Sanchez is currently a Senior Stakeholder Liaison in the IRS Communications & Liaison Division. Christella has been with the Internal Revenue Service for 35 years. She began her career with the IRS at the Fresno processing center as a Tax Examiner. She has worked as a Customer Service Representative and as a Tax Compliance officer in the Examination Division. She is the relationship manager for Tax Professional and Payroll organizations, industry, small business, and trade associations. She also works in conjunction with other Federal, State, and local government agencies. Christella is also the Lead for the Limited English Proficiency program/Underserved community.Keith Kershner is currently a Senior Stakeholder Liaison in the IRS Communications & Liaison Division.
