Description:

This 2-hour Ethics course will bring insight into a practitioner's responsibilities in their communications with clients and prospects, and how they relate to circular 230. We will discuss real-life situations and how practitioners can develop practical tools to assist with his due diligence in those circumstances. The attendee will walk away from this course with practical ideas on how to manage expectations with their clients. Objectives: Obtain better knowledge of the responsibilities of a tax professional in communicating with their clients, prospects, and colleagues. Identify common problem situations and develop strategies to deal with them. Discuss how certain sections of Circular 230 apply to real-world examples. How to manage expectations of clients and prospects to avoid violating circular 230.

Presenters: 

David Hilliard, EA NTPI Fellow

David graduated from Cal Poly Pomona in 2001. After spending 20 years performing as a knight at Medieval Times, He made the natural transition into the world of tax in 2009. Finding his passion for helping clients repair past errors, he has obtained his fellowship with the National Tax Practitioners Institute. As part owner of Grandfield Tax and Business Services, he heads up the Tax Controversy department of the firm. Outside of spending his free time with his wife and 3 kids, David is active in many organizations. He is the current 2nd Vice President for the California Society of Enrolled Agents and serves as the Immediate Past President for their Orange County Chapter. Recently, he has accepted the position of President of the Yorba Linda Chapter of Christian Business Partners.
