In this seminar we will explore several California non-conformities from a case study point of view to help us be prepared what to look for to save our clients the most money possible on their state returns and to keep them in compliance. We will also include one or two issues that are new in light of the CARES act passed in March, 2020. At the end of this seminar you will be better prepared recognize some of these differences.

Presenter:

Lane McKellar

Lane started preparing taxes in 1989. His very first return included rentals with an NOL. From his very first tax class he recognized this profession was something for which he had a passion. After working with a large nationwide firm for 7 years, he had an opportunity work with a company that created tax software. For 15 years, Lane programmed areas of software that addressed interest, dividends, capital gains, rentals, K-1’s, schedule A, investment interest expenses, credits and state returns. When the programming season slowed, Lane continued to prepare returns. In 2012, Lane opened his own firm in Canyon Lake. Lane earned his Bachelor’s Degree in finance from SDSU in 1981 and has been enrolled to Practice before the IRS since September 1998. Lane has been a member of CSTC since 1997. He has served as President of the Temecula Valley Chapter of CSTC 2014-2015.
