Employee or independent contractor, that is increasingly the question. A misclassification of a worker can be costly! Is there a common law test? Is there a difference between a state and federal statutory employee or between a state and federal statutory non-employee? Learn how to be successful in an employment audit, what forms need to be filed, and what records to keep.

Brendan O'Connor is a Sr. Associate Attorney with the RJS Law Firm of San Diego. He represents both individuals and businesses before the IRS, FTB, EDD and SBOE.He will be joined by Joseph Cole, JD, LLM, Taxation and Jennifer Reardon, JD CPA, MBA, LLM also associate attorneys with the RJS Law Firm. 

Joseph Cole is an associate at our law firm. Mr. Cole assists our attorneys with client matters before the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Franchise Tax Board (FTB), Employment Development Department (EDD), and the State Board of Equalization (SBOE).

Jennifer Reardon is an associate attorney at RJS Law. Ms. Reardon focuses her practice on estate planning and tax law. She advises individuals, families, and entrepreneurs on the creation of trusts, wills, advance health care directives, general durable power of attorney, and property agreements. The primary goals of Ms. Reardon’s estate planning strategy are to minimize tax consequences, secure a client’s legacy, and avoid the cost and delay of probate.
