Topic: 

First topic will cover 2 hours: The IRC section 199A Qualified Business Income Deduction (QBID) was a new and very complicated IRC provision included in TCJA. The application of this new 20% QBID for all Form 1040 filers including those with Schedules C, E, F and pass-through entities including partnership, trust and S-corporation. In this brief 2 hour interactive presentation, we will learn how QBID works, who it applies to and the multitude of planning opportunities for taxpayers and tax practitioners.

Second topic will cover 1 hour: "Planning for Security, Security and MORE Security"A review of Income Tax Preparers' Liability, Responsibility, and Legal Requirements to protect client's data from Cyber attacks and data theft and/or loss. This includes having a written Security Plan, Staff Training Requirements, a Written Review of possible exposure to data thefts, what corrective measures have been instituted, development of written response plan if victim of data theft.

Presenter:

Alan D. Shattuck, CRTP
Alan is the founder of Shattuck Tax Consulting and the current President of the Sacramento Chapter of the California Society of Tax Consultants.In addition to his extensive experience as an income tax professional from 1962, Alan is an experienced teaching professional. He was a guest lecture for Santa Clara University in accounting for 3 academic years, Dominican University of San Rafael for 8 academic years in accounting and taxation, and Sierra Community College in Rocklin Truckee, and Nevada City campuses, covering 3 academic years in accounting and taxation.He has also developed and updated multiple tax CPE courses which he has presented across the United States and as Webinars for various agencies and webinar providers of Qualifying Continuing Professional Education (CPE〉 required of the income tax professional.
