Topic: 

We will be sharing Cyber Security information online threats from shopping online or browsing social media, people unfamiliar with online security could be putting themselves at risk. Lax online behavior can open the door to swindlers eager to swipe people’s personal information and leave themselves vulnerable to tax-related identity theft.The IRS and Security Summit alert taxpayers to remain vigilant and to teach Tax Pros how to recognize and avoid online scams to minimize their chances of falling prey or unwittingly exposing their families to identity theft and tax fraud.The public-private sector partnership encourages Practitioner community to be aware of the many security vulnerabilities they face online and we will review a wide range of resources available to them as 2024 draws to a close.

Presenter:

Lisa Hamilton, Department of Treasury Stakeholder Liaison
Lisa is a Stakeholder Liaison with the Internal Revenue Service, Small Business/ Self-Employed Division. Her duties include working as a relationship manager for small business owners and the practitioner community. She has held a variety of other positions with the agency, including an Appeals Officer for the Appeals Division, a Tax Compliance Officer for the Examination Division, and a Revenue Officer for the Collection Division. Lisa attended Cal State Los Angeles where she studied Accounting and Economics. She has utilized her skills as a presenter to various organizations and extensive volunteer efforts at VITA sites. She has also served at disaster relief sites on behalf of IRS.
