Topic:

Reporting 1031 exchanges on a tax return can be one of the most complicated transactions you will report on a tax return.   Our clients do not understand the complexities, especially when they are not getting good advice.   This is why it is important for the tax advisor to be involved with the 1031 exchange before and during the transaction.  Otherwise, they can be in a tax surprise.   We will go over some scenarios about how to fill out Form 8824 and 3840.
