Description:

In our annual workshop forum, we will be discussing the significant changes that tax year 2021 has seen for both individuals and businesses. And once, again, there were many! Including the Advanced Child Tax Credit, Payback of the credit, who is exempted from pay back as well as UCE adjustments, PPP loan forgiveness and the tax return, the CARES Act, the Families First Relief Act and much, much more. We will also be highlighting TheTaxBook's organization, updates and references through research of answers as we go along

Presenters:

John C. Keil, EA
John Keil is a former major bank Vice-President who reinvented himself as a tax practitioner in 1997. He became an Enrolled Agent in 2001 and began conducting educational workshops for CSTC shortly thereafter. He attended California State University Fullerton where he majored in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance and Economics. His tax practice is in Placentia and specializes in small business and individual taxation.

Patty Barron, EA

Patty Barron has been preparing taxes since 1992 and is a retired 9-1-1 Dispatcher. Patty is a board member of the Orange County CSTC Chapter and is excited to be taking on the role of educational speaker. She enjoys personalizing tax preparation for her clients -- and likes to say, “taxes are about the people, not about the math.”

David A. Eastis, CRTP
David Eastis has been teaching classes and conducting seminars for CSTC since he joined CSTC in 2003. He obtained his accounting degree from Indiana University, South Bend, specializing in taxes and not-for-profit organizations.

Shannon Hall, EA
Shannon Hall spent three years studying classical theatre at an acting conservatory, so it was only a matter of time before she got into the tax business. She has been a member of CSTC since she began preparing taxes all the way back in 2012, though her tax career truly began many years before when, as a child, she would play with the tax forms in the library. Shannon has prepared taxes at respected places from her kitchen table to H&R Block, where she served as an instructor and office manager before moving in with some laid-back CPAs in Signal Hill, CA. She has been a presenter at several local CSTC chapters and the Summer Symposium, and has also been a guest webinar presenter for Spidell Publishing and a contributing author to Enterpreneur.com. More than anything, Shannon hopes to make tax education engaging and fun and strives to make taxes less taxing. Shannon is also currently on the CSTC Society Board of Directors as 1st Vice President.
