Description:

Today, we live in an era of 100% bonus depreciation. Understandably, it’s common to ask, “Why do I care if an item is a repair or improvement? I can just write it off using bonus!”. But if you really think about it, that new roof, kitchen remodel, property additions and certain other repairs do not qualify for bonus treatment. However, by properly applying the 2013 IRS Property Regs, you can write many of these items as repairs and improvements in the current year.

Learning Objectives:

#1: Recognize what property is subject to bonus depreciation and section 179 expensing

#2: Apply the 2013 IRS Property Regs to write off significant improvements to property

#3: Find new ways to make the Safe Harbor provisions work for your clients
