Presenter:

Part One: A Line-Dance with the Schedule C - Mary Beth La Munyon-Jones EA
It all began in 1979-1980 when I met my future husband. He was running the franchise operation alongside his father, who, at that time, owned 15 H&R Block offices throughout the San Joaquin Valley. I sold him, 8 calculators! Leaning the business pre-computer was an adventure. The 1993 Tax Season was my first in actual Tax Preparation. I soon learned there was so much more than met the eye! I began teaching tax classes in 1995. What an experience and challenge…I LOVED It! I would take as many classes as possible just to learn…I just took it all in. Education is very important to me, especially in this industry. I worked in the Lemoore office for a number of years, before I got the courage to become the Franchisee in 1999. We grew the business from 1100 returns to 3500 in a few short years. In 2005-2006 we went from one office to three; from three to five; from five to seven, back to five, until October 2014…I sold to HRB. During my time as a Franchisee, I also helped write several seminars for HRB for California-related topics. (Military tax returns, California Non-Resident, California Native American/ Tribal returns.)While running the business, I served on the Board of Directors of CTEC from 2001- 2016. I held many positions on the board and was known to go up the Sacramento to help answer phones during registration times. I have been in private practice with a friend of mine since 2015. I became an Enrolled Agent in 2019. ( never too old to learn)I continue to learn, as I love teaching and encouraging others to continue their quest to be the best Tax Practitioner possible.

Part Two: Understanding CA's Health Insurance Marketplace Compliance - Claudia Stanley, CPA, EA
Claudia Stanley is a practicing CPA & EA in the Fresno area, as a partner in C. Stanley, CPA & Associates. She is a graduate of California State University, Fresno, and serves as treasurer of the California Society of Tax Consultants, as education chair of the Central California Chapter of Enrolled Agents, and as treasurer of Fresno’s local chapter of American Business Women’s Association. Claudia is a long-time member of CSTC. In 2016 she was named a member of the year of the Central Valley Chapter of CSTC and in 2001 she was named one of the Top Ten Women of the Year in the nation by American Business Women’s Association. She frequently speaks on various tax topics.
