Treasurer
BARBARA MARX, EA joined CSTC in 2000, soon
after which she became a member of the San
Gabriel River Chapter Board of Directors.
She currently serves as Treasurer for the
Greater Long Beach Chapter, representative to
the Los Angeles Area IRS Practitioner Liaison
meeting, and contributes the Tax News column to
the Greater Long Beach Chapter newsletter.
Barbara worked in private accounting for most of her career
until she was introduced to public accounting in
1991. She soon found that she was
delighted with the diversity and direct client
contact and opened her
own practice in 1996 in Bixby Knolls area of
Long Beach. She preparesindividual and
business income tax returns, does bookkeeping
for varioustypes of small business, from
corporations to non-profit organizations,
including payroll and sales tax reporting.
She also provides audit representation.
Barbara attributes much of her comfort level in her
business to the unsurpassed education and
networking opportunity offered by CSTC. Nowhere
else is there an organization whose members
support one another in such a helpful and
non-competitive environment.
Past -
President
LINDA BECKETT began
bookkeeping during her high school years for work
experience credits. In the mid 70's she worked with
her father-in-law, who was a member of CSTC. She
eventually asked her to become his partner in his
bookkeeping and tax practice. As her husband’s
business flourished, her time became devoted to the
bookkeeping needs of that business. She entered the
tax profession again in 1992 and immediately made the
CSTC North County Chapter dinner meeting one her first
stops. Remembering the education and networking
opportunities that had been offered to her when her
father-in-law had invited her to attend the CSTC
meetings in her early years gave her hope for starting
up again. She has been on the North County Chapter
board serving as director, 1st and 2nd
VP and President of the Chapter. She has been a
speaker at her chapter’s dinner meetings, as well as
the Fall Workshop presented by the San Diego area
chapters. She credits her association with the members
of CSTC with her success in developing a tax and
bookkeeping service with three employees, 50
bookkeeping and payroll clients, and more than 375 tax
clients.
