What's New Preparing Estates and Trusts?
CSTC SAN GABRIEL VALLEY CHAPTER

Meeting Information:

What's New Preparing Estates and Trusts?

Do you remember when the estate tax exemption equivalent was $600,000? Many of our clients' estate planning [through 2012) was based on "permanent" exemption equivalents of $600,000 or $1,000,000. Now, the "permanent" exemption equivalent appears to be $5,000,000, adjusted for inflation, and a "temporary" exemption equivalent is $11,200,000, adjusted for inflation. What changes should be made now that the tax laws have changed? How should wills and trusts be administered now, as opposed to 10 years ago? We will examine today's hot topics in estate planning, including: DSUE (portability); California Revocable Transfer on Death Deeds; IRA Conduit Trusts; new developments in real property tax planning; and, dealing with "unneeded" A-B trusts and the capital gains tax nightmare they have created.
