Get ready for the 2018 Tax Season - Speakers Claudia Stanley, CPA, EA and Susan Maples, CPA, FTB

8 total hours: 2 Federal Law; 4 Federal Update; 2 CA Hours

This program will review various changes in Federal tax law, rules, and regulations for the past year, as well as any proposed changes for the coming year.  The program will include significant changes to Federal tax forms for individuals and businesses. Material will cover significant court cases and actions pending before the courts.  Also included will be updates and the latest information on security and identity theft issues.  The program is a condensed presentation of information every tax preparer needs facing the upcoming tax season.               

Law/Fed: This program will look at IRS factors for reasonable cause abatement and the circumstances under which interest on taxes can be waived.  Discussion will include the forms and procedures used for requesting penalty and interest abatement including the first time abatement for penalties and administrative relief.  The course will include an overview of various penalties and IRS code sections, as well as how to request a refund of paid penalties and completing Form 843.
