This presentation will analyze the requirement of settlement statements in various formats with the purpose of extracting data for tax preparation. Presenter: Chuck Woodson, EA

It all started in 1976 when Chuck enrolled in a basic training class for tax preparers sponsored by Tax Corporation of America (TCA). Thus began a saga spanning 4 decades. He became an Enrolled Agent (enrolled to practice before the IRS) in 1981. His office is centrally located in the Kearny Mesa area of San Diego. Horizon Planning provides tax preparation, planning, compliance, and bookkeeping and payroll services. The company handles taxes for individuals, S-Corporations, Partnerships, Non-profits and LLC’s. Chuck and Elaine (his partner in life and in business) share in both preparation and teaching duties. Elaine is also the resident expert in bookkeeping and payroll services (because Chuck can’t keep debits and credits straight). Chuck served as the 1991 San Diego Chapter President of the California Society of Tax Consultants (CSTC). He specializes in trust and estate tax income tax returns (the infamous 1041) and has taught beginning and intermediate level workshops. As a specialist in trust and estate taxes he served as a quality assurance team member for Intuit on their multiple professional software programs (Lacerte and ProSeries) for 10 years. In addition to tax services Horizon Planning offers a 60-hour, CTEC approved tax preparation training course for new preparers (in collaboration with CSTC). In addition to the basics of tax law additional emphasis is given to interviewing skills to help the beginner put new knowledge into practical use. Chuck served as the 1991 San Diego Chapter President of the California Society of Tax Consultants.
